norton.
lewis creek.
if you look closely at the iphone, you'll see we're just on the cusp of lewis pond road. this is pretty much the middle of nowhere. and the road had a foot of snow on it. and a big gate across it. but we're here. - my dad once got stranded here over night with one of his friends. my mom was a little nervous. that's all i got. - i

west rupert.
rupert.
wheelock.
*pow, pow!!* guns for sale at the wheelock village store. i could barely focus to take this shot. i'm not sure which was louder...the barking attack dog tied up in the backyard of the shop or my GROWLING stomach. gas was $3.54 at the pump. i remember because the sign was hand written. -K
notice how my head is tilted so it could fit the shot. no, i'm not looking at an LCD screen on my camera, i just knew i'd have to- i think we've been doing this for a while. -i
west burke.
walden station.
walden.
you should know...we ALWAYS park the car directly in front of the garage doors to get these fire department shots. each time we do, i cross my fingers that mrs. smith made her cinnamon toast without incident and that she remembered to turn off her curling iron before leaving for church. it would stink if one day the doors flew open and the trucks came flying out into us. might be a cool shot though.
victory.
at the moment this photo was taken, i wanted to be anywhere but in victory, vt. if some crazy person had jumped out of the bushes to kill us...no one would have known for weeks. i guess a homicidal maniac named the "town." -K
yes, kim was quite scared. "i'm not getting out of the car til the camera is really set up!!!" -i
stannard.
initially, we went 3/4 of the way up the road towards stannard (over a sketchy 1 lane bridge damaged by the once raging river below) and then headed back down towards the main road when we couldn't find it. after consulting the map more closely, we saw that we had been on the correct route to stannard. back up we went and finally, success!
sutton.
at first, sutton fooled me. we rolled in past a bunch of houses that were pretty poorly maintained. finally, we took a left onto a dirt road that led us up and over a hill. we ended up in what felt like rural time square. a 5-way in the middle of no-where-ville, vt. which way? this way? no, that way. ok. we finally got oriented and continued on.
